Vols ranked No. 25 in AP preseason poll
Alabama has seven teams on its schedule ranked in this year’s preseason poll – Auburn (6th), Georgia (9th), LSU (14th), Ole Miss (17th), Arkansas (18th), Wisconsin (20th) and Tennessee (25th).

Reigning national champion Ohio State sits atop the poll after garnering all 61 first-place votes, becoming the first unanimous preseason No. 1 in the history of the nation’s oldest, continuously running poll.
The Vols are slotted at 25 in the preseason poll, which was released Sunday.
Missouri plays at No. 9 Georgia on October 17, host No. 25 Tennessee on November 21 and wraps up the regular season at No. 18 Arkansas on Nov. 27.
This marks the fifth time in Gary Pinkel’s 15 years at Missouri that the Tigers appear in the AP’s preseason poll. The ranking matches UT’s standing in the Amway Coaches Poll, which was announced in July.
For the third time and for the second consecutive year, the SEC has eight programs ranked inside the AP Top 25-the most by any conference. Other teams of note to interested Gopher fans include Michigan State at #5, the highest they have ever been ranked to start a season.

Georgia Tech will open the season on a Thursday night on September 3rd against Alcorn State. The Vols received 166 votes putting them behind SEC foe and 23rd ranked Missouri (229) and 24th ranked Boise State (190).
