Celebrities visit Banksy’s new Dismaland for private showing

Considering the similarities between Dismaland and DisneyLand from BoJack Horseman, (helpfully pointed out here by TechInsider) I’m going to say that Banksy is non other than BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg. A wavy, disfigured analogue of The Little Mermaid’s Ariel floats in front of a decrepit castle that evokes The Magic Kingdom, while Banksy’s horrific crash of Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage invites exhibit attendees to participate, paparazzi-style, by taking their own voyeuristic pictures. As well as galleries showing some of Banksy’s famous street art, the park features a police riot van partially submerged in a pond with a children’s slide coming out, an “oil caliphate themed insane golf course made from the hockey pitch at Cheltenham Ladies’ College”, and a mock payday loans shop aimed at children looking for more pocket money.

Somerset Council were also in on the act, telling Mashable on Tuesday they’d heard a film was being shot at the site, and passing on the production company’s very official sounding Gmail address for more information.

Excitement was building at around 9pm last night as more people entreated the anti-fairytale exhibition, which had hundreds of people queuing up for entry early this morning after the Dismaland webisite went down. “There’s nothing wrong with asking provocative questions”. He was not put off by the artist’s anti-authority theme. If that’s not enough, grouchy park attendants wearing mouse ears and frowns on their faces greet visitors at the door handing out brochures that feature a grim reaper driving a go-kart.

It’s not the happiest place on earth, in fact it’s downright dreary and depressing but what would you expect from a theme park called “Dismaland?” With all of the hype and debate over Dismaland, they are expected to sell out fast. Mike then tells Banksy the last YouTube video to make him cry was a speech on Marcus Garvey by Dr. John Henrik Clarke, while El confesses to shedding tears to the clip of Christian the Lion’s famous embrace of the people who raised him upon seeing them in the wild years later.

“I’ve been curious all week”, said Dana Winestone, 21, who works in a cafe on the seafront.

Today is the first time the public, who did not have VIP entry or have the chance to get in with a Weston Mercury free ticket, will be able to see his Bemusement Park at Weston-super-Mare’s Tropicana site. “I’m just excited, it will be the best exhibition out there”.
