Donald Trump during comments to Time magazine said the real rate of unemployment was likely 21%. In Van Wert County, unemployment was 4.3 percent, up from 4.1 percent in May. Yet, it has pegged lower from the 7.6% previous year even after a growth in the work force of the state.

The state Office of Employment and Training said Thursday that last month’s seasonally adjusted rate in Kentucky was 5.2 percent.

Unemployment in Ohio dropped again last month.

One category, mining and logging, posted job declines over the year, down 2,300 jobs (a 7.3 percent decrease).

The unemployment rate dropped the most in Connecticut and Hawaii, where it fell by 0.3 percentage point each. Over the month, the East North Central had the only statistically significant jobless rate change (-0.2 percentage point). West Virginia had the highest at 7.5 percent.

Nebraska had the lowest jobless rate in July, 2.7 percent. “If you start adding it up, our real unemployment rate is 42%”.

A similar pattern – an increase in the unemployment rate between June and July, but lower rates than July 2014 – were reported in neighboring Madera, Merced and Tulare counties. Government saw the largest loss, down 1,100 jobs. The unemployment rate held at a seven-year low of 5.3 percent. Financial activities increased for the third straight month (+1,500). The remaining 27 states had rates that were not appreciably different from those of a year earlier.
