Louisiana state trooper shot in head during traffic stop near Lake Charles
When Trooper Vincent located the vehicle, it was in a ditch on LA Hwy 14. At some point the driver reportedly opened fire, striking Vincent in the head.

According to KATC, the trooper was taken to a hospital in Lake Chalres and is listed in critical condition.
“It doesn’t look good right now so we’re asking for prayers”, Edmonson said.
Edmonson, head of the state police, arrived in Calcasieu Parish Sunday evening, where he visited with Vincent’s family. Passing motorists were able to detain the suspect until troopers were able to place him under arrest, he said.
The Facebook message’s subject line read “Trooper Critically Injured – Prayers Needed”.
The state trooper was shot when he tried to stop a driver suspected of being drunk and under the influence of drugs, according to the Associated Press.
The weapon used in the shooting is still under investigation, he said.

‘Sometime after that, he encountered the driver and a struggle ensued, ‘ he said. Both of his brothers are in law enforcement – Keith Vincent is the Chief of Police in Iowa and Terrell Vincent is a fellow state trooper. He said the truck door opened and the man, identified as Kevin Daigle, 54, of Lake Charles, came out with the shotgun.
