On Sunday afternoon, she posted a cryptic photo with the message “through him – with him – in him” on her Twitter account.
News of her father’s death comes shortly after a man was arrested over the recent disappearance of Rosie’s 17-year-old daughter Chelsea, who was found safe after going missing for a week.
Rosie has spoken publicly about the strained relationship she and her father had following her mother’s loss from breast cancer in 1973.
But after many years, the Sleepless in Seattle star eventually learned to forgive and forget.
“There are some unforgivable things I think that as a child, the statute of limitations has to wear off”, she told Piers.
“The statute of limitations has to wear off. [When] you get to be 50 years old you can’t still be angry at what your father did in 1970”, she said. ‘You have to work it out for yourself and find a place for it in your life and not rehash it forever’.
Within the past week Rosie also had to deal with mentally ill teenage daughter Chelsea running away. The teen was found on Tuesday (18Aug15) following a public appeal by her mother.
