Kendrys Morales drove in the winning run with a walk-off single in the 10th inning as the Royals topped the Los Angeles Angels 4-3.

Kris Bryant went 2-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to 12 games and Addison Russell (2-for-3, two runs scored), Jorge Soler (2-for-5, two RBIs), Anthony Rizzo (2-for-4, RBI) and Dexter Fowler (2-for-4, RBI) all contributed for the Cubs.

By beating Los Angeles 9-4 on Saturday, the Royals (70-46) can move a season-best 25 games over. “He hit the second pitch. I wasn’t quite sure they were going to”.

Kelvin Herrera (4-2) pitched a ideal 10th to pick up the victory.

Calhoun homered in the eighth off Wade Davis to put Los Angeles up 3-2.

Closer Huston Street could not hold the lead, however. Street intentionally walked Mike Moustakas to face Butera, who replaced Salvador Perez after the starter was ejected in the seventh. It’s definitely frustrating. It’s part of this game sometimes. Ventura got a strike out and ground out to keep the Angels off the board.

Shoemaker preceded the two very bad outings with 19 scoreless innings over three starts.

A loss in the finale and a win by the Orioles would drop the Angels out of a playoff spot for the first time since July 2. The Royals got him for six runs in 1 2/3. That’s almost 20 more babies than the previous record for a given month, and it just so happened to be nine months after the Royals appeared in the World Series.

ARLINGTON, Texas – Adrian Beltre punctuated Texas’ seven-run sixth inning with a three-run home run in a rout of Tampa Bay. “So, tying that game in the ninth there is huge for us”. Ventura retired seven in a row to start the game, before a double and passed ball put a runner on third with one out in the third. Catcher Chris Iannetta struck out and second baseman Johnny Giavotella grounded out to Escobar. David Murphy was later able to stick out his bat and poke an opposite-field solo home run out into right field to tie the game at two.

It looks like the Royals have a slight leg up on the Angels, as the Royals have won their last two games while the Angels have lost their last two.

“We’re still in it”, Iannetta said.

You have to believe the bullpen will fall back in line.

The Royals kept slapping them around the ballpark. Matt Shoemaker (5-9) absorbed most of the damage for the Angels, the right-hander failing to make it through the frame in his second consecutive disastrous start.

Angels: RHP Cory Rasmus (right forearm strain) and INF Taylor Featherston (upper back strain) were placed on the 15-day disabled list. Royals LF Alex Gordon hopes to go on a rehab assignment “shortly”, although no date has been set.

CHICAGO – It wasn’t pretty, but the Cubs will gladly take the results of their win over the White Sox for their ninth straight win.
