NYC officer assigned to mayor’s security team shot with pellet gun

A female NYPD officer, assigned to NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio’s security detail, was shot in the back Sunday night outside Gracie Mansion, the mayor’s official residency, police said. The mayor and his family were not home at the time of the shooting. She was taken to the hospital, and is expected to be okay.

Police say that with help from the building’s doorman, they identified the apartment in question and went to the apartment but found nothing. No charges were filed as of Sunday night and investigators were questioning an 18-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl in connection with the case.

Police say several windows in the neighborhood also have been damaged by pellet gun fire recently.
