Stephen Colbert Announces First Musical Guest

Joking aside, when pressed on the issue, Colbert says he can actually see Trump making it all the way to the White House. And that’s not the opinion of Trump. “That’s an opinion on our nation”, he said. And is he horrified by such a notion? “That is much closer to how I took in my art”, Colbert said.

“You know, look, I’m bummed”. “Fighting between the hosts doesn’t sound amusing”. “All I know is that it’s the same creative team, so I’m just as excited about the jokes”.

“I like intellectuals, writers, people in sports…”

“Please stay healthy until I’m on the air”.

Given that Colbert has brought over his staff from “The Colbert Report” over to this show, he did say that there will be a lot of political humor on “The Late Show”. And in more good news, they said they had just met with the network and were casting another season to follow the one airing in the fall. Later, he said he might do the monologue in different places and in different ways early on. And we’re probably never going to hear it. Now I feel more freed up. “I’d like to have enough humility to find some things along the way”.

“I like Jimmy Fallon”, he said.

He’ll do several test shows in late August, including a mix of interviews with authors, entertainers, musicians and politicians, improvised comedy and other elements he’s not ready to reveal.

During the conversation, Colbert recalled, “I said, ‘Now that we’re changing the theater after 22 years, is there anything you would have changed?'” That said, he admits to at least a bit of nerves. “We’re competing with ourselves to have fun on the show”. On a suggestion from David Letterman, Colbert has moved his desk to the other side of the Ed Sullivan Theater stage, which has been revamped in order to showcase its Broadway roots.

At one point, “I asked him do you mind me asking you these questions?” They liked the show I used to do. We’re very tight. I’m in Lake Cuomo all the time.

Doing “The Late Show” will be “an act of discovery for me, too”, he said. And then he said, ‘There. He couldn’t have been more gracious.

Colbert says he isn’t anxious about the competition.

Trying to boost his muted campaign, Jeb Bush took hard hits at Hillary Rodham Clinton on Tuesday and got booked on the first “Late Show” with Stephen Colbert.

– So who is the real Stephen Colbert? Instead, he went to the edge of the stage and sat down, legs dangling. “I can’t wait to play off his energy”.
