Hurricane Danny forms in the Atlantic, is first hurricane of Atlantic season
Danny is a small hurricane. Danny is about to encounter a less conducive environment, and weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours. Air Force Reconnaissance Hurricane Hunters will head in tomorrow.

The storm now has sustained winds of almost 75 miles per hour, with higher gusts. But its path into the Caribbean means it could ultimately fall apart because conditions there are not favorable for development. The location was given as about 930 miles east of the Leeward Islands.
It’s still too early to tell if Danny will threaten the Gulf region or continental U.S. The storm was at first expected to become a hurricane by today, but the hurricane center said that could happen on Friday. Storms that form in this region are known as Cape Verde storms and typically form towards the height of hurricane season. “We do know there is always a threat of tropical activity this time of year”.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, forecasters have been monitoring Danny as the storm strengthened.
“That is the extreme we can see at this point”, he said. This is the most active period of the six-month hurricane season, he noted, a stretch that will last until late October.
The “little storm that could” still has an uncertain future. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration cautioned that the compact size of the hurricane makes it hard to predict, and that Danny is subject to fluctuations in strength, both up and down.
A system’s track actually depends a lot on its strength. That means there will be stronger South Westerly winds aloft which should help to weaken the storm.
It may reach Puerto Rico by next Tuesday. This storm has a 30 percent chance of formation over the next five days.
Danny developed a small eye early Thursday morning, which was a sign it was about to go through a strengthening phase. A turn toward the west is expected on Saturday or Saturday night.
The relatively quiet season is due to dry air blowing from Africa over the tropical zone and disruptive upper level winds, according to hurricane specialists.
And wind shear in the atmosphere is projected to be strong enough to essentially knock the top off the swirling system.

AccuWeather is forecasting eight tropical storms, four hurricanes and one major hurricane for the 2015 season with two to three landfalls in the United States.
