But it doesn’t seem like that debate is going to be put to rest. Whereas the games have teased and implied an unmasking of Master Chief multiple times, it has never happened- and that will not change with Halo 5: Guardians either.

“I actually don’t even know if I can talk about that”.
Halo 5 creative director Tim Longo simply stated that “he doesn’t take his helmet off” when asked whether or not we will get to see the real man beneath the suit in Halo 5’s campaign.
Some fans have wondered if there is something to be read into Longo’s answer.
Master Chief’s face has remained a mystery, hidden behind his helmet since “Halo: Combat Evolved” was released in November 2001.
Guardians will be available from 27 October on Xbox One. Fans will have to make do with the glimpse offered at the end of Halo 4 (if you beat the game on Legendary), which showed a close up of his eyes.
But sadly, once again another Halo entry will come and go without us seeing the face of our hero.

Bungie initially wanted to keep Master Chief’s face a secret so players get the illusion that “they” are the character himself. You could also see some scarring due to the augmentation process which turned him into a super solider.
