Abdul Rahman Haroun is the first person to nearly complete the 50-kilometer (31-mile) journey on foot, before being caught close to the British exit.

Short-haired and wearing a light grey t-shirt, Haroun appeared by video-link from Elmley Prison for a brief hearing at Canterbury Crown Court in Kent, southeast of London.
The charge alleges that he trespassed in the south-running Channel Tunnel, causing any engine or carriage using the railway to be obstructed.
Kent police say Haroun, 40, allegedly slipped past officers at the entrance of the tunnel and dodged hundreds of security cameras before being spotted by British security guards near Folkestone.
He is alleged to have entered, and traversed as a trespasser, the southward tunnel, causing obstruction to engines or carriages using the railway.
In court, he spoke through an Arabic interpreter to confirm his name and plead not guilty.
The railway tunnel is 31 miles (50 kilometres) long.
Little is known about Haroun’s background.
Judge Adele Williams remanded Haroun in custody.

If the case goes to trial, it will start in January.
