Check out the first three minutes of AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead

For quite some time, the show’s producers have insisted the show will be different from The Walking Dead.

A special 90-minute episode of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD debuts tonight on AMC followed by the return of super-fan CHRIS HARDWICK’s panel discussion TALKING DEAD. “We tried to slow burn the story, make it as much about the anxiety and tension and paranoia that goes with this outbreak as much as it is about the actual confrontations with zombies“. Fans of “The Walking Dead” have been anticipating this spin-off for months. This isn’t Rick Grimes in the woods with his family fighting for survival.

On a different note, you are going to find out more about the Wolves, their history, and some of their methodology. Those have been our buzzwords since we first started talking about this show: “exciting” and “new”. It’s really a process in the pilot of them coming to understand something unnatural is taking place. It’s set in Los Angeles, before the zombie apocalypse at the center of the original series, providing a fresh twist. It’s not the Beverly Hills. “It’s surrounded by freeways which is something we tried to capture as another icon of Los Angeles”, Erickson tells Tess Vigeland of All Things Considered.

“I loved this woman as soon as [Dave] told me about her“, Rodriguez says. They’re not upper class, and they’re not in law enforcement. Although the series that became Fear The Walking Dead was announced in September 2013, it was in development long before that.

“You need to spend less time online”, she counters. That is something that we examine with an entirely new cast of characters on the series.

In the previously released trailer for “Fear The Walking Dead“, Nick Clark was seen running away from something – or rather, someone. This is a family that is struggling to survive together. We will see the effort to stop the contagion, the effort to contain it. We’ll do it consistently through our family’s filter, but, yeah, absolutely. When his mom, Madison, wants to save him, wants to protect him, but she’s also a little bit enabling in that respect. You’ve got all of the conflict and friction in this new relationship that’s forming when society is collapsing.

And that’s where skeptics are holding out on Fear the Walking Dead even before its premiere.

“I had a couple of early pitches that touched on that and Robert (‘TWD’ Creator) shut me down”, Erickson explained. Some are really morally complex.

“That means that either people will like us or they’ll prefer to stay with the other show – it’s a pretty simple choice”.

What’s surprised you most so far? Neither he nor anyone from The Walking Dead will be making an appearance on the spinoff.
