‘Star Wars: Rogue’ One To Resurrect Peter Cushing Via CGI
However, the particulars on what that part might be is still kept under wraps, but the source suggested that it will be a significant role since every “Star Wars” fan knows that Grand Moff Tarkin was the one who supposedly created Darth Vader. The first official image for Rogue One’s cast was revealed soon after, depicting Felicity Jones (The The Theory of Everything) involvement for a while now, but other cast members include Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline), Donnie Yen (Ip Man), Forest Whitaker (The Butler), Mads Mikkelsen (The Hunt), Alan Tudyk (Con Man), and Riz Ahmed (Nightcrawler). The helmets on either side of the classic Stormtrooper helmet are new to the Star Wars universe, and most likely helmets we will see in Gareth Edwards Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

According to a “source” for the newspaper, “This is one of the most complex and costly CGI re-creations ever”. If a digital version of Cushing does join the cast list, it’ll be perhaps the biggest test yet of computer generated imagery’s ability to create a realistic human character.
Whether or not Cushing appears, the film will be released December 16th, 2016. The long dead actor will rise from the grave and reprise his role in the upcoming science fiction movie, “Star Wars: Rogue Nation”. However, Cushing was not comfortable with his footwear and complained about it. Lucas eventually gave up and allowed him to wear slippers.
George Lucas similarly digitally recreated the likeness of the Hammer Horror favorite for a cameo at the end of Revenge Of The Sith.

CGI has been used before to complete movies when actors have died during production, including when Oliver Reed suffered a fatal heart attack while filming Russell Crowe’s Gladiator in 1999. Though the actor has passed away in 1994, it seems that the filmmakers behind the project will be bringing the actor back to life through CGI. Here’s what an unidentified source had to say about how Grand Moff Tarkin fits into the plot.
