Granted all phones have different battery sizes, but basically the idea is to determine how much of the phone’s battery would charge in a fixed amount of time.

Six other smartphones have been used for the current test, which are also the most popular among mobile users. As you might have already guessed from the title, it is probably not something you expected. According to the developers behind the test, the other models that have been tested have been Samsung Galaxy 6, Asus ZenFone 2, OnePlus 2, Motorola Droid Turbo, Motorola Google Nexus 6 and LGG4. It took 2 hours and 10 minutes to attain full charge, though one has to admit that its battery was amongst the largest in the group at 3,300mAh.

Around 30 minutes in is when the S6 catches up to and eventually eclipses the ZenFone – and Samsung has recently said that the Note 5 charges at the same clip.

That being true, the Galaxy S6’s advantage over the ZenFone 2 could be attributed to the fact that it packed a 2,550mAh battery, which was second smallest after the iPhone 6. At the 30-minute-mark, both the Galaxy S6 and the Zenfone 2 tied at 53% charged.

For 100 per cent charge, the Galaxy S6 pulled ahead managed a full charge in 1 hour and 22 minutes, while the ZenFone 2 was 14 minutes slower. Predictably, there’s no shortage of handset makers claiming their phone is the fastest to recharge.

The smartphones in question rely on Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 and is available on the devices that house the processor. One trend is clear; phones with some form of quick charge definitely outpace rivals like the iPhone and OnePlus 2. The Nexus 6 does as well but is marketed as Motorola’s Turbo Charge feature.

The recent test enabled tech analysts to conclude that fast charging mechanisms can really make a difference in point of smartphone technology. ZenFone 2 was the fastest with a 17-percent charging rate.

Apple iPhone 6 and the OnePlus 2 do not house the Quick Charge technology and hence, do not stand out in the results.

If one thinks that battery size plays a vital role in charging then that is not the case, its a part of the equation. Samsung’s flagship only has a 2,550 mAh piece.
