Opening statement halted in trial over Jewish site deaths

Though he has pleaded not guilty, Cross has admitted that he went to the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City and Village Shalom retirement home with the plan to kill Jews since he is dying from a lung disease.

As a result, his opening statement was just seven minutes long. Cross had expressed a hatred of Jews in online postings, but none of the shooting victims was Jewish. McMullin described the shotgun blast that blew Corporon’s brain from his head, and LaManno’s screams and pleas of “No! No!”

At his capital murder trial Monday in Olathe, Kansas, Frazier Glenn Miller said he will also prove that Jews control the media, and that he has photos and videos to prove his claims, the Kansas City television station KSHB reported. The 74-year-old is representing himself after firing his attorneys in May, saying he wanted to speak on his own behalf. Ryan responded that the present phase of the trial was not the place to present evidence of his intentions, but to determine whether he committed capital murder. His trial is expected to last three to four weeks.

Paul Temme said he was planning to work out at the center’s gym when he heard loud noises and a woman warned that someone was shooting.

When witness Paul Temme said he had been shot at once, Cross corrected him.

“I had good moral reasons for what I did”, Cross told the judge.

Miller barely started his opening statements when he was faced with numerous objections from prosecutors.

“If he wants to confess, that’s fine, but we can’t talk about things not in evidence”, the prosecutor said after jurors left the room. Concerned about how he might behave during the trial, prosecutors this week filed a memorandum of law addressing the court’s right to remove a disruptive defendant and deny Cross the right to defend himself. Ryan also refused to hear Miller’s argument that Jewish people are committing genocide against the white race. “I’m confident you will find me innocent”.

Miller, who has no formal legal training or significant courtroom experience, fired his three defense attorneys in May. A death sentence could be looming if convicted.
