Team spokesman J.D. Campbell said Monday that sophomore forward Emmitt Holt and freshman center Thomas Bryant were stopped Friday night.

IU Insider Zach Osterman joins Matt Glenesk to talk about the 11th off-court incident in less than two years for IU men’s basketball team.

This is Emmitt Holt’s second alcohol-related run-in with the police, after being involved in the auto accident that severely injured former Indiana player Devin Davis.

While Holt wasn’t at fault for the crash, both players (who are underage) were drinking at the time and alcohol played a factor in the incident. The program can’t take any more publicity of this nature, and it wouldn’t shock me to see Holt receive a similar punishment to that of Davis and Mosquera-Perea.

Neither Indiana nor head basketball coach Tom Crean has commented on the situation.

The citation of Indiana Hoosiers Emmitt Holt and Thomas Bryant for illegal possession of alcohol begs the question: Is Tom Crean in control?

Both were released from the scene and will have to appear in a Monroe County court. He played past year at Huntington Prep in West Virginia and was a McDonald’s All American.

Davis along with Hanner Mosquera-Perea would be dismissed from the program in May, with Crean and Indiana athletic director Fred Glass giving the remaining players (which included Holt) a “Come to Jesus” style meeting where they were all warned that this sort of situation mustn’t happen again. Mosquera-Perea had previously been cited for OWI in February 2014. Robinson – who has since transferred – and Troy Williams were suspended for the first four games of last season for failed drug tests. Finally, soon after last season ended, Davis was cited for marijuana possession in an on-campus dorm.
