Rauner, fellow Republicans set to take the stage at Illinois State Fair
The Senate will convene for a potentially dramatic showdown on what is Governor’s Day at the Illinois State Fair, where the GOP and, in particular, Sen.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth, who is seeking the nomination to challenge U.S. Sen.
Democrats in the Illinois Senate on Wednesday overrode Gov. Bruce Rauner’s veto of a plan barring public worker labor unions from striking or from being locked out.
Rauner was asked about the apparent stick in the eye.
The first-time officeholder, carrying an agenda to curb union power, ended a dozen years of Democratic residence in the governor’s office last fall in an election drawing fewer than half of eligible voters to the polls.
The bill also contains elements that Democrats, who control the House and Senate, have been unwilling to embrace. Rauner says his priorities will spur economic growth and grow jobs.
The committeemen endorsed Chicago City Clerk Susana Mendoza for Illinois comptroller and Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown, while also recommending that Tom Greenhaw stay on at Metropolitan Water Reclamation District to serve out the remainder of Patrick Daley’s term.
Along with the traditional rally cries to stand in support of labor unions and the middle class, Democrat Day offered an early glimpse at a handful of top tier races on deck for 2016.
Cullerton called Rauner’s bill “unpassable” and says the Senate bill is a compromise.
But Democrats are not completely united on everything. We need companies coming to Illinois instead of running away. The victor of the primary will face incumbent Republican Sen.
Brown says, “The only cuts that were done were by the governor, so if the guy wants to look about for who’s responsible for cuts, he should just stare right in the mirror, and that mug he sees coming back at him is ‘Mr”.
Former federal prosecutor and Chicago Urban League President Andrea Zopp is making her bid for U.S. Senate official.
“We are willing to work with Gov. Rauner”, the Chicago Democrat said, “but we don’t work for Gov. Rauner”. He says the party’s support for Kirk is “unwavering”.
