That widely celebrated alligator from previous year was dubbed “The Stokes Gator” after the family who caught the creature. “We took some measurements of its girth, base and around its tail after it was in the boat”, the alligator hunter said.

“That is when the work began”, Evans said.

“It is pretty fantastic when you think about it”, he added.

“We would not have gotten that croc in the watercraft had it not been for those two diversion superintendents”, Gregg said.

It took six men, including two Alabama conservation officers, to pull in and secure the 13-foot 6-inch gator, weighing approximately 900 pounds.

The enormous alligator was weighed at the Dixon Lumber Company in Eufaula. When the reptile was opened up, approximately 115 pounds of the weight was due to a deer found in the alligator’s stomach.

Scott Evans, Jeff Gregg, and Justin Gregg, with their record-breaking gator.

Gregg said that the alligator has been harvested for its meat – 230 pounds of it, not counting the tendons or dark meat – and the hide will be displayed by a taxidermist. Evans said he received an email reply from the outdoor store asking him to send some photos of the Lake Eufaula alligator.

The Evans’ group catch comes in second for the category of heaviest alligator killed during a regulated hunt in Alabama.

It required a team of six men to pull in the beast from the waters of Lake Eufaula on Friday.

“It won’t go to waste”, Evans told AL.com, declaring that he has some new recipes in mind for a Labor Day cookout.
