State Labor Commissioner killed in OKC

The duo had met at Braum’s ice cream and fast-food restaurant on the northwest side of Oklahoma City so they could work out a dispute they had earlier that day, KJRH reported.

The attack Sunday night started inside the restaurant and then continued outside.

Police say the son of Oklahoma’s state labor commissioner is being held on suspicion of fatally stabbing his father at a fast food restaurant.

Put it another way: Every two days, one of our neighbors is killed.

But the commissioner was pronounced dead when he arrived at OU Medical Center minutes later, according to the Oklahoman.

Mark Richardson, the man who lived across Christian Costello in a condominium complex, said he saw him talking or dancing alone.

Authorities arrested Costello’s 26-year-old son, Christian Costello, on a preliminary charge of first-degree murder. They resided in Edmond. Mark Costello took 64 percent of the vote against an incumbent Democrat in 2010, and the telephone software company founder was re-elected a year ago.

State Rep. Randy McDaniel also lamented the news that Costello was murdered. She said in a statement that she was “shocked and greatly saddened” to hear of Costello’s death. “Oklahoma has lost a dedicated public servant and a good man”. He is survived by his wife Cathy and four children.

Christian Costello also pleaded guilty in 2012 to assault and battery on a police officer, driving while under the influence of a drug, and resisting arrest.

“I knew him fairly well and worked with him on several things”, Dunlap said. Effective treatment and recovery often require multiple services and supports from both the private and public health care systems. I hope that myself as well as other elected officials in Oklahoma can carry out that legacy of dedication. “I am praying for his family, friends and staff”.

“I don’t think he had an enemy at the Capitol because he was the kind of individual that got around and in front of people and wanted to get positive feed back on issues”, Ownbey said. “My thoughts and prayers are with his family”.
