Mike Fiers of Houston gets the nod for his no-hitter against the Dodgers on Friday, in which he threw 134 pitches, the most by any major leaguer this year. He joins Hisashi Iwakuma, Cole Hamels, Max Scherzer, and Chris Heston as the no-hit crew this season.

“I have always thought of myself as a big league pitcher, and I thought of myself as being one to this point”, Fiers said. It’s obvious we’ve got five weeks or whatever it is, too.

“You can’t let one moment like that affect your career”, Fiers said. “You can only go up from there”. Former Astros ace Nolan Ryan was on hand and applauded from a suite as Fiers’ teammates charged the mound to celebrate.

“I mean, you can try to pick out a lot of things through a lot of games”, said Fiers to reporters on Saturday “I don’t know what they are talking about”.

He struck out 10 and walked three, before retiring the final 21 batters of the game.

Aside from Rollins, Turner probably came closest to breaking up Fiers’ no-hitter when he hooked a ball wide of the left field foul pole on the first pitch of his sixth-inning at-bat. It was also Houston’s first no-hitter since June 2003, in which they needed six players (Roy Oswalt, Pete Munro, Kirk Saarloos, Brad Lidge, Octavio Dotel, and Billy Wagner) to achieve the feat against the New York Yankees at the Yankee Stadium. Carlos Gomez is 6-for-20 with a home run against Kershaw, who is 3-2 with a 2.60 ERA in seven career starts against Houston.McCullers will be recalled before the game from Double-A Corpus Christi, where he allowed one unearned run over three innings last Tuesday. Kazmir rebounded from his worst start with the Astros, giving up one run and six hits while striking out eight.

“I think if you talk about stuff like that, it seems like you’re whining”, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly told reporters Saturday.

RANGERS 2, TIGERS 0 (at Detroit) – Colby Lewis pitched seven strong innings to help Texas blank Detroit.

The game was over almost from the start, when the Blue Jays scored three runs in the first inning against Hector Santiago (7-7).

The Cardinals, who still have the best record in the majors at 77-44, committed three errors in the fifth while pitcher John Lackey (10-8) allowed four hits, a walk and a wild pitch in that frame.

“That’s how their team plays a lot”, Greinke said of the homers. Houston almost tied the game in the sixth, but Carlos Gomez was thrown out trying to steal home with two outs. Altuve hit his homer in the bottom half.

TWINS 4, ORIOLES 3 (at Baltimore) – Kurt Suzuki hit a two-run single in the eighth inning to cap a comeback against All-Star reliever Darren O’Day and carry Minnesota. Over his last 16 games, Turner is batting.

So, after the Houston Astros wrapped up a three-game sweep with 3-2 victory in 10 innings on Sunday, ace Clayton Kershaw was asked if the team is panicking.
