The fight then continued outside the restaurant.

Family members issued a statement through a spokesman on Monday saying they couldn’t adequately express the “shock and sadness” they were feeling.

“He just said ‘Yeah, I probably shouldn’t be giving advice.’ We laughed at the time”. His son, Christian Costello, 26, is now behind bars and facing charges in his father’s death.

News 9 checked court records and discovered Christian Costello had several run-ins with the law throughout the years. He was also charged with outraging public decency past year. When police arrived at the scene, he was found sitting in the grass eating bird feathers and dandelions. The case remains unresolved.

Friends say Christian may have weighed on Mark Costello’s mind over the weekend as he visited Columbus, Ohio for the annual summit of the Koch brothers’ right-wing Americans for Prosperity group.

“Unfortunately we do not have enough acute or crisis beds for all those that need it”, Cook said. “He’d walk around half the time with hardly any clothes on”. Russell and his wife, Cindy, along with all Oklahomans are in grief, Russell said.

Balderrama said he did not know whether the younger Costello had an attorney who could comment on the allegations.

Christian Costello is being held in the Oklahoma County jail on a murder complaint.

Mark Costello was thought-about a rising star in Republican Celebration politics. He was expected to run for lieutenant governor in 2018, said GOP strategist Trebor Worthen.

“So sorry to hear the tragic news about Mark Costello”, Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett said on Twitter.

Costello was fatally stabbed in a Braum’s parking lot in Oklahoma City on Sunday evening. Mark Costello was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead from the multiple stab wounds. The altercation started inside the building and spilled into the parking lot, she said.

“While at the restaurant the meeting turned violent and Christian Costello produced a knife and attacked Commissioner Costello”, Balderrama said.

Holland said police were not immediately releasing the identity of the man who was killed, but State Medical Examiner’s Office spokeswoman Amy Elliott confirmed Costello was the victim of the attack.

Flags will be lowered later Monday after an executive order is filed.
