Swimming is not permitted in the area of the lake where the man went missing.
Divers and a helicopter with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department were searching Irvine Lake on Saturday night for a 60-year-old man who fell from a boat and went under the water.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department said in a tweet Sunday that the body of the man was found in 25 feet of water.
Authorities received a call around 5:53 p.m. The man’s friend told rescue team members that he heard a splash at the back of the boat and saw the man in the water.
Members of the dive team continued the search well into the night and resumed the search on Sunday morning.
The man had been fishing with a friend, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. William Lackey said.

Another witness said he saw two men dive into the water to help search for the man. They weren’t able to find him.
