From a galaxy far, far away…Star Wars comes to Disney

On Saturday, the minds behind the happiest place on Earth announced the universe of “Star Wars” will feature in two huge expansions at Disneyland and Walt Disney resorts. They will be transported to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port filled with Star Wars characters.

The new lands will be Disney’s largest single-themed land expansion in the history of the parks. Special merchandise and food offerings will also be up for sale for true- blue Star Wars fans.

It’s the first time the entertainment giant is trying the “Star Wars” theme at its parks.

This announcement comes from Disney Chairman Bob Iger. These new attractions will deliver a different kind of experience for the guests and enthusiasts of the movie.

Another big reveal from the D23 expo is the latest “Star Wars” director, Collin Trevorrow who was behind “Jurassic World“.

Visitors will have the ability to take the controls of one of the most recognisable ships in the galaxy, the Millennium Falcon, on a customised secret mission.

Each park will be expanded with a 14-acre Star Wars world that will include rides, restaurants and plenty of other immersive elements, including humanoids, aliens and droids that interact with guests.

Star Wars: Episode IX will be the third and final film of the newest Star Wars trilogy films, that will start with Star Wars: The Force Awakens on December 18, later this year.

Iger also noted that they are now looking for people to fill in characters and to staff the different new attractions. However, Disney has not yet revealed the opening dates for the upcoming Star Wars land. Back in 1987 there was an attraction called Star Tours that has since been redesigned and re-branded as Star Tours: The Adventure Continues. According to a new report from the Wall Street Journal, the warehouse club wants to be more upscale, in light of competition from companies like Costco.
