The girl, Jasleen Kaur, on Sunday claimed that she was first eve-teased and then threatened by the man with dire consequences after she resisted his attempt. She warned him that she would take his picture, note down his bike number and lodge a police complaint.
The incident happened in a traffic island when Jasleen was trying to cross the road and the accused in his silver bullet came in front of her. When she asked why he violated the red signal, he made obscene remarks. Yes, no one minded. “I chose to stand up for myself and lodged a complaint in Tilak Nagar police station with his photo and vehicle number”, she said.
Delhi Police on Monday arrested a man accused of eve teasing a girl on Sunday night.
The Delhi Police announced a cash reward of ‘5,000 for the final year English literature student of the Delhi University, according to deputy commissioner of police (west) Pushpendra Kumar. No one intervened. No one stood up for me. “Investigation has begun and groups have been despatched to arrest the accused”, a police official had stated.
“The accused was conscious that police was wanting for him and as such was on the run”.
That Delhi is the worst place in India for women’s safety has now even been documented by the National Crime Records Bureau, but things seem to be showing no signs of changing whatsoever.
“We support her and will be meeting her today”. “I would like to congratulate the girl for standing up and confronting the man”.
