The short film also stars Geraldine Chaplin, who’s played the late designer in several other films directed by Lagerfeld.

The film will show at Chanel’s next Métiers d’Arts collection show on December 1, in Rome.

What interestingly won Stewart the role, however, wasn’t just that she is the current face of the Chanel brand, but fact that she impressed Lagerfeld at the audition stages, playing the character “really, really mean”.

Kristen Stewart has been Karl Lagerfeld’s muse for some time but now the pair are taking their relationship to the next level and working together on a short film about Coco Chanel.

Stewart, 25, will portray an actress impersonating the designer as a young woman.

Kristen Stewart is building up an impressive post-Twilight resumé; previous year, she made history by becoming the first U.S. actress to win the prestigious French Cesar award for her role in Clouds of Sils Maria. Most recently, she was seen gracing the catwalk alongside Julianne Moore in the labels iconic Grand Palais casino Autumn 2015 couture show.

“They make so many movies about Chanel, why can’t I make one?” he added.

Karl cast the film, designed the costumes and wrote the dialogue.

Stewart also starred in the last project of Assayas, “Sils Maria”, which premiered in Cannes. The director said she was really good at being evil, and she played it too well.
