Today’s announcement comes a little over a month after Hart, Weir, Kreutzmann and Chimenti teamed with Trey Anastasio, Bruce Hornsby and Phil Lesh for five Fare Thee Well – Celebrating 50 Years Of Grateful Dead shows in Santa Clara and Chicago.
“The music never stopped” continues to be a prescient, now even somewhat ominous Grateful Dead lyric.
For more information and ticketing links, visit the Dead & Company’s official site.
Tickets for the added Dead & Company dates go on sale to the general public on August 28th at Ticketmaster. Other stops include Madison Square Garden (both dates already sold out), Philadelphia, DC, Worcester, San Francsico, and LA.
Dead and Company features three of the four remaining longtime members of the Grateful Dead – percussionists Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann and vocalist-guitarist Bob Weir.
Guitarist John Mayer will also be with the band, along with Allman Brothers’ bassist Oteil Burbridge and Fare Thee Well and RatDog keyboardist Jeff Chiment. “To help carry this music is the opportunity and the honor of a lifetime”, Mayer says of the tour.

“Those songs weren’t done with us”, agreed Weir, who called Mayer’s involvement “the cherry on the sundae that made this project look like a good idea” and added, “It was a matter of who wanted to get back out on the road and keep doing it. …” A presale for American Express card members begins at 10 a.m. August. 26. “We’re gonna take these old friends on some new adventures”.
