Man accused of shooting trooper had long criminal past

Vincent then told the driver that help was on the way to get the truck out of the ditch, Edmonson said.
Edmonson said the gunshot “messed up (Vincent’s) neurological output”, leaving the trooper in critical condition Sunday. “You’re going to die soon”, he said the man told the trooper.
The police suspect Daigle had been consuming and stated one other sort of drug was in his system, however gave no additional particulars.
Vincent, 43, is survived by his wife and 9-year-old son.
As police continued to gather evidence at Brewer’s house, Louisiana State Police offered somber details of when and where they’ll bury one of their own.
“Two-thirds of his life in the last 18 years was spent incarcerated”, said Michael Cassidy, the district attorney whose office prosecuted Daigle for crimes in Jefferson Davis Parish.

“Nobody wore this badge more proudly than Steven Vincent“, Edmonson said. “This loss exacts an enormous emotional toll on the State Police family, but we will do what is necessary and proper to honor Steven and support those who knew and loved him”.
