Ocean County authorities arrested the Barnegat man found earlier this week with Rosie O’Donnell’s runaway daughter and charged him with sending sexually explicit communications to a minor, officials said Saturday.

The teenage daughter of American chat show host and comedienne Rosie O’Donnell is missing and police are looking for her in New York, the television star announced Tuesday. Chelsea was found by the police authorities in a New Jersey residence of an alleged drug criminal named Steven Sheerer, according to E!

If convicted of the charges, each carries a penalty of five years in prison. It has, however, been widely reported that the family believed Chelsea was hanging out with friends during her weeklong disappearance; it was not until Chelsea had not called home that concerns were raised.

O’Donnell later turned her daughter’s phone over to police, who investigated it.

Sheerer was arrested in 2012 for possessing heroin with intent to distribute and child endangerment.

“Rosie wants to paint me as a terrible person and says adopting Chelsea saved her from a life of misery”, she told The ENQUIRER. Chelsea O’Donnell ‘is safe in police custody.’ Find out all the details here. The court also mandated Nicole’s Law, which means Sheerer can not have any contact with the victim’s family. No drugs were apparently found in Mr Sheerer’s house, nor evidence of an intimate relationship. 11, her mom said. She returned with Chelsea to their home in Nyack, New York City. Chelsea takes medication for a psychiatric issue and has been off the medication, police have said. The 17-year-old girl, who was found inside, said she had gone there voluntarily, German told CNN.
