Pennsylvania AG Kathleen Kane’s twin sister acts as media decoy for

“This is war”, Kane wrote in a March 2014 email, according to the criminal affidavit, which describes an almost Shakespearean level of intrigue, jealousy and vengeance inside the normally staid attorney general’s office. Henry asked.

Reporters did a double take Monday at the Montgomery County Courthouse when Kathleen Kane’s twin sister walked in front of her, causing a bit of confusion for photographers who couldn’t tell the two apart.

“There is an insufficient showing”, he said.

Gerald Shargel, who once represented New York City mobsters, sparred with a suburban Philadelphia judge as he tried to chip away at official oppression charges against Attorney General Kathleen Kane. She did not comment on her way into court or on her way out, both times surrounded by bodyguards.

The scope and intensity of the federal inquiry are unclear, but it comes as Ms. Kane prepares to mount a legal fight against criminal charges that she leaked confidential material to embarrass a critic, and then lied about it under oath.

Ms. Kane’s hearing is expected to conclude by the end of the day. “But we’re looking forward to the trial”. If Kane doesn’t resign, Preate says there is still a possibility she could be impeached by the senate, or her law license could be suspended by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court which would force her to step aside.

“The judges held all of the charges over for court”, he said. But her stock began to fall through a series of political dramas.Kane and her prosecutors have painted wildly different pictures of the circumstances that led to the charges. She’s also accused of ordering aides to illegally snoop through computer files. Prosecutors cast Kane as a schemer, obsessed with seeking revenge against former state investigators who had criticized her and trying to cover her tracks after learning she was under investigation.

Kane was charged on August 6.

Special agent David Peifer, in charge of special investigations for Kane’s office, testified he provided her with a copy of a transcript cited in the Daily News article months before it was published. Bradbury said he did not know for sure. A pattern of not prosecuting people who could clearly be convicted.

Kane secured a memo summarizing the findings of a 2009 grand jury investigation, the complaint said. He said he was certain she had read it because they debated whether or not the memo contained secret grand jury information.

“It is a secret process”, she said, according to the testimony.

Kane is also accused of lying to a grand jury about her involvement in the grand jury leaks.

Prosecutors say Kane wanted to get even with Frank Fina, a former prosecutor she blamed for an unflattering newspaper story. He claimed that she knew Fina had a collection of “thousands and thousands” of pornographic emails. Montgomery County Magisterial District Judge Cathleen Rebar halted the line of questioning before he could start, however.

“You’ve gone very far afield. I hope that she didn’t do it deliberately”, Preate said.

Kane sat quietly in court as Shargel objected repeatedly, saying his defense team had not been given enough time to review the documents the prosecutors used.

Kane is accused of leaking confidential grand jury documents to the media during a row with one of her staff and then lying about it under oath at a later court hearing
