GOG Galaxy beta client updated with a nifty “rollback” feature

GOG Galaxy also now provides you with an option to opt-out of automatic updates, with the ability of buying games directly from its store without the platform.

I have to agree with James’ assessment of GOG’s Steam-like desktop client Galaxy: A big part of why I like it (and I do like it) is that it’s not overloaded with extraneous bells and whistles. Handy in case said update breaks the game.

Players will now be able to revert to previous versions of games if updates cause issues, as they occasionally do.

GOG Galaxy is in open beta, so interested parties can head over and grab the latest version for free today. Titled update 1.1, the patch will bring with it a rollback feature that will allow users to restore games to prior states. “With the newest update to GOG Galaxy, we’re giving our users more control over their games and patches, but also addressing numerous top requests from our community”.

Other additions include pause and resume for downloads, new installation options (you can now view required disk space, select your language, modify the installation path, and more), and HiDPI support with proper scaling and a retina-ready user interface.
