A promo clip for West’s Vanguard Award pastes numerous images from throughout the rapper’s life and career onto a green background, à la the show’s primary spots with host Miley Cyrus.

Taylor Swift leads this year’s nominations with nine Moonmen in her sights, but Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé follow close behind with six and five respectively.
MTV has announced the first wave of performers for this summer’s VMAs which includes a “Voice” coach, a former Disney darling and a breakout up-and-comer.
MTV has also revealed that Tori Kelly, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Twenty One Pilots with A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams will perform at the musical night. He also deserves proper acknowledging for his impressive live performances at the VMAs in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008. Whether West will perform at the ceremony has yet to be confirmed.
Last year, Beyonce received the award; husband Jay Z came on stage with baby Blue Ivy Carter to present the honor.
In 2013, actor, singer and songwriter Justin Timberlake was the recipient of the same award. From videos like “Bound 2” to “Touch the Sky”, West has never ceased to amaze us. Maybe, let’s see. His VMA debut performance was a medley of “Jesus Walks/All Falls Down/Through the Wire” featuring Chaka Khan in 2004.

West hasn’t commented on receiving the honor yet, but we’re sure whatever he has to say will be in classic Kanye fashion. If you’re looking forward to catching this moment, tune in to MTV this Sunday, August 30, at 9 p.m. ET.
