Kraft recalling turkey bacon because products can spoil earlier than expected

The company is recalling the possibly adulterated product, shipped nationwide, because it may spoil before the “Best When Used By” date, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said Tuesday in a news release.

48 ounce boxes of Smoked Cured Turkey Bacon Chopped and Formed with sell by dates between September 3rd and October 30th. The company has received reports of illnesses related to the impacted products.

Their expiration dates (found under “Best When Used By”) range from August 24, 2015 through October. 26, 2015.

The recall was rated at Class II, according to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, meaning there was a “remote probability of adverse health consequences from the use of the product”.

Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon Smoke Cured Turkey Chopped and Formed in 36 ounce cardboard box, which contains three packages. Their expiration dates fall between August. 28, 2015 and October. 20, 2015.

Products that are part of the recall will have the number “P-9070” inside the USDA Mark Of Inspection on the box.

It also has the line number “RS19”.

It’s the third recall this year for Kraft Heinz Co.

Kraft Heinz Foods was formed on 2 July following the successful completion of the merger between Kraft and Heinz.
