The teenage terror who shot a member of Mayor de Blasio’s security detail with an air gun claimed he was just goofing around and thought the safety was on, law-enforcement sources said.

One of Mayor Bill De Blasio’s security detail was shot outside Gracie Mansion Sunday night, according to The Observer.

A doorman helped authorities find an condo the place they got here in with a person, recognized as Michael Verbitsky, and his 18-year-old girlfriend Gabrielle Gleyerman.

It happened around 7:15 p.m. Sunday when investigators said the officer was getting out of the passenger side of a black Ford Taurus.

Police say there’s no indication the officer was intentionally struck.

“You understand it isn’t low cost to reside there”, neighbor Joseph Hummel stated to WPIX-TV. “Anyone living there can afford to be doing something better than shooting a pellet gun out the window”. When questioned by police, he said he was aiming at the park when he fired, according to The Wall Street Journal. The mayor was not at the mansion at the time.

When the cops went downstairs, Verbitsky and his gal pal allegedly attempted to sneak out through the basement, but officers apprehended them outside.

Police did say there had been “two previous reports of apparent BB/pellets causing damage” to windows in the area, but did not say if those were related to the mischief charges.
