Summit fire burns 75 acres near Big Bear Lake

Snow Summit Ski Resort near Big Bear Lake is being threatened by a rapidly-moving brush fire, according to a report from KTLA 5 News.

Milloy, who suffered an outbreak himself, says at least 190 firefighters have been treated – but many more likely haven’t reported their itchy, oozing symptoms.

The fire has burned approximately 100 acres and is 30 percent contained.

Including in the bulletin was south of Pennsylvania Road up to the boundary of the forest. Fallsvale School will remained open, since it is far enough away that the air quality is not affected by the smoke.

Forest Roads 2N06 (Radford), 1N54 (Clarks Grade), 2N93 (Wildhorse) have been closed, according to inciweb. 10 miles per hour winds are blowing from the North. The real cause of the fire is still under investigation. Trails closed include Towne, Skyline, Champion Lodgepole Pine, Bluff Mesa, Grandview Point and Seven Oaks.

With multiple fires burning across California, agencies have to be very careful with their resources, Chon Breibiescas of the U.S. Forest Service said.

Bribiescas said smoke in Big Bear Lake was minimal Tuesday morning, and there is some cloud cover. It is located in the intersection of Big Bear Boulevard and Division Road.

Several planes and helicopters were able to make easy water pickups at the town’s large lake, allowing near-continuous drops over the flames about 100 miles east of Los Angeles.

Fire management is under Unified Command with San Bernardino County Sheriff Department and Big Bear Fire Authority.
