USA Network is pushing Wednesday’s finale airing of “Mr. Robot”, because of a scene that is similar to the tragic shooting deaths in Virginia. “Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this hard time”, the network said in a statement.
The decision followed the killing of the reporter and cameraman, who were conducting a live interview for Virginia’s WDBJ.
A re-run of last week’s episode will air tonight in place of the finale. A former employee of the news station, Bryce Williams, has been listed as the official suspect following the murders. He turned the gun on himself and was pronounced dead at the hospital this afternoon.
The finale of the show, which stars Rami Malek, Christian Slater, Carly Chaikin and Portia Doubleday, will now air next week, on Wednesday, September 2 at 10/9c. Episodes of American Dad and even Mike and Molly have aired at later dates following intense events.
A 1999 episode of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” centering around a school shooting was pushed back months in the wake of the massacre at Columbine High School.
