Red Sox have ‘nothing to lose’ moving Ramirez
The 25-year-old outfielder talked about the play with reporters after the game, as aired on NESN’s “Red Sox Final” following the loss.

Hanley Ramirez has made a decision to do something about that. The problem with that is that Castillo and Bradley Jr. are the two hottest hitters in Boston right now. 158 points since August 5 (was hitting.102, now hitting.260).
Many people expected Ramirez to have a tough time during his first season playing in the outfield, but expected his explosive bat to make up the difference. On Tuesday afternoon, he was on the field at U.S. Cellular Field doing some work at first base.
Ramirez has struggled in his second stint with the Red Sox after signing a four-year deal worth $88 million last offseason.
Ramirez, 31, has been primarily a shortstop throughout his career and has never played so much as an inning at first base.
This move by Ramirez shows that he is all-in with Boston and will do whatever it takes to help the team win, a superstar move by a superstar veteran. “I’m looking forward to it”, said Hanley, who has been a disaster in left field.

Castillo wasn’t in the Red Sox’s starting lineup Thursday night despite Boston facing a left-hander in Danny Duffy.
