Trump escalates attacks on journalists, tosses top Hispanic anchor from

Wednesday morning Ramos told CNN it was his duty to stand up. “This is the first time and it’s happening in the U.S. with a presidential candidate”.

Unfortunately, we can not shrug off his comments because he isn’t stating them for ratings. “This is very consistent with his behavior in the past”.

The 57-year-old news anchor has a history of sharply questioning politicians and not hiding his opinions. He pressed Trump on the specifics of the real-estate magnate’s controversial immigration plan, noting that it would likely be unconstitutional and logistically impossible. “It’s a simple thing to say and I’m sure it’s great for our friends in the press, but it’s not practical and it’s not conservative”. “They rediscover us every four years”. Trump eventually allowed Ramos to return.

The Kelly File host also pointed out that Ramos had described Trump’s rhetoric as hateful and divisive before going to Iowa.

“Nor of yours”, he replied, one of several references he made to Trump’s ongoing attacks against Kelly for pressing him on his history of sexist comments during a GOP candidate debate.

“He was totally out of line”, Mr. Trump said of Mr. Ramos.

“He’s one of the most trusted figures in our community”, she said. “As a reporter, I believe you have to take a stand. I think the most important social responsibility as reporters is to prevent and denounce the abuse of those who are in power”. It was painful. It’s what we fight about when we’re talking about equality.

Ramos, 57, has been called the Walter Cronkite of Spanish-language television. He added his phone number to the letter so they could talk over the phone before setting up a formal interview. That represents a much larger audience than what CNN’s Wolf Blitzer pulls in the hour.

Univision’s Isaac Lee, president of news and digital for Univision Communications Inc. defended Ramos. I remain grateful for the first-rate journalistic work that Jorge and all of his news colleagues at Univision and Fusion do to bring all points of view to the 57 million Hispanics in this country. He’s derided groups and individuals of all stripes, from Mexicans to Asians to TV news anchors. So the guy who doesn’t even care says “Univision. No”.

“Well, whatever, no”, the man shot back, waving his hands.

On Tuesday night, he dismissed a Latino reporter from his press conference for demanding to know how Trump intended to deport all 11 million people in the country illegally.

Ramos was later allowed to re-enter the press conference after other journalists criticized the removal, leading to another heated encounter between the Mexican-born journalist and the billionaire developer, who has suggested ending birthright citizenship as a way to solve the immigration problem. It’s a whole other field of activity.
