A woman and her two dogs were rescued Wednesday with the help of the U.S. Coast Guard after they fell about 100 feet down a cliffside in Mussel Rock Park in Daly City, California, and were trapped on a lower portion of the cliff face, according to officials.

A 27-year-old man, a 54-year-old woman and two dogs were walking after midnight on the treacherous trails just south of Thornton State Beach when they all tumbled down the cliff and got trapped.
The Coast Guard sent two helicopters to the scene, but the woman remained on the cliff as of 7 a.m.
The Coast Guard responded to the scene around 3 a.m.
Complicating the rescue, Zalinskis said was the fact that the woman’s two pit bulls that also fell 150 feet down the cliff were “agitated” and guarding their owner. Then, they were both lifted up into the helicopter and flew back to the U.S. Coast Guard station adjacent to the San Francisco global Airport. Her condition was not known.
“It’s a risky area to walk with a dog that’s on a leash in the daylight.” he said. “Well, it’s always good to see a successful rescue”, North County Fire Authority spokesperson Klaus Zalinskis said.
Delucchi said the humane society issued a notice to the couple to have one dog evaluated by a veterinarian because the dog’s leg was injured.

The Coast Guard, NCFA and Humane Peninsula Society declined to identify the man and woman involved in the rescue.
