The victims were found on Simms’ property in Dover Hill.
Police have arrested a 33-year-old man in the slaying of two men in southern Indiana’s Martin County.
Tharp had also died from a single gunshot wound.
Through the course of the investigation, deputies, with troopers and investigators from the Indiana State Police, began attempting to locate Nathan Baker, 33, Shoals.
While officers continued to search Sims’ property for evidence, an officer located a shoe and a short distance later located the body of Tharp lying in a garden covered with debris.
Martin County Prosecutor, Mike Steiner, stated that his office has several pages of information to evaluate and will request that Baker be held in the Martin County jail for an additional 72 hours. Officers immediately found that Baker was the driver and he was taken into custody without further incident. There was also a shotgun in the vehicle.
Police had originally brought Baker in for questioning as a person of interest in the case.
The suspected gunman was arrested after he crashed a auto while fleeing from officers. “We do believe he acted alone and do not anticipate making any other arrests”.

After continuing their investigation, officers believe that they had sufficient probable cause to charge Baker with two Level 1 felony counts of murder. Baker is expected to have an initial hearing early next week. They were assisted by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and Washington City Police.
