For a first episode, the companion series has broken the US cable TV record after it attracted 10.1 million viewers, the network revealed. It’s an interesting selection for a debut clip, though considering the return is nearly guaranteed to (once again) shatter ratings records, they could show Daryl Dixon reading the phonebook and still be doing fine. The premiere of Raising the Bar saw 7.7 million viewers in 2008.

The following day will see the channel premiere the acclaimed drama “Rectify” from the producers of “Breaking Bad“, while it will also feature exclusive UK television premieres of top films, including Only God Forgives starring Ryan Gosling, The Beaver with Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson and Shelter starring Julianne Moore and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

The episode delivered 6.3 million adults in the 18-to-49 demographic many advertisers prefer to reach.

The premiere had more total viewers than any of the 22 episodes in The Walking Dead’s first and second seasons. Set in Los Angeles, the prequel focuses on a group of characters in the early days of the zombie apocalypse.

This excellent start speaks for itself, but an entire season of Fear the Walking Dead remains to be seen.
