A zookeeper was been sent to jail for beating an ostrich to death at La Teste-de-Buch in southwestern France.

According to the report, the colleagues of the zookeeper spotted the ostrich in very bad condition after being beaten so severely.
They took the injured ostrich to the nearby veterinary hospital where doctors revealed that the bird had died from a blow to the head with a shovel.
Immediately after the incident, the zookeeper who thought to be responsible for this, was arrested, and during investigation, he claimed before police that the bird had been killed by its pen-mate pony.
However, after doctors confirmation, he was sent to jail for six month and other his mates who were with him in this incident got suspended.
