Taylor Swift Surprises LA Crowd With Alanis Morissette & Natalie Maines

Taylor Swift sang a duet of Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know” with the singer herself on Swift’s 1989 Tour stop in Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Monday. So, grab a bottle of wine and/or a carton of ice cream, think about your ex, and scream along with Taylor and Alanis’ performance.

Taylor Swift is now on the 1989 World Tour, but her latest concert was all about celebrating a ’90s icon.

Later in the show Swift was also joined by talk show host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres, who strutted her stuff in a sparkly jumpsuit and tutu during “Style”.

Moreover, Taylor told the crowd she and other female singers of this generation wouldn’t pen the way that they do without her influence and of her music.

Well, last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles-a venue where Swift, at 25, holds the record for most sold-out performances-she chose to bring out a kindred spirit. After the show Morissette wrote on twitter, ‘such a sweet celebration! thank you@taylorswift13 #1989TourLA’. Of course it was Taylor’s incredible stage moment with Alanis! Swift may not have invented #SquadGoals, but suffice it to say: She’s perfected that one, as well.

“If it weren’t for this artist”, Swift stated earlier than Maines got here on stage, “I might not be a musician”. For her part, Swift tweeted hours after the show, “Tonight”. “I wouldn’t have, when I was, you know, 9 years old, gotten my first CD”. “You just have to take that on if you are really going to own the direction of your life and your career”.
