Shark Takes Chunk Out Of Surfers Board At Morro Strand State Beach

She said the shark swam underneath her board before taking a 14-inch-wide bite out of it.

Elinor Dempsey, 54, was surfing at Morro Strand State Beach in California at 10am when the attack took place.

Dempsey said she had been in the water about 35 minutes when she saw the shark approach her about 2 feet underwater.

The woman was shaken but not hurt. Some of the surfers helped Dempsey reunite with her board, and she got back on it to get to shore.

After examining the bite mark, authorities estimate it was a 6-foot-long juvenile white shark.

Speaking to the San Luis Obispo Tribune, she said: “I just immediately went into shock and survival mode, I wasn’t even sure if I was thinking anything other than, “oh my God, swim”.
