Tennis great John McEnroe believes controversial Australian player Nick Kyrgios should look up to Spaniard Rafael Nadal who can not afford to waste energy on non-sport related tussles or issues. If Murray is victorious, his route to the final could see him face off against the likes of Stanislas Wawrinka and Roger Federer before facing off against Djokovic once again in the final.
Murray, the 2012 US Open champion, has beaten the big-hitting Australian in all of their previous meetings, with the world No 3 prevailing at both the Australian and French Opens this year.
Kyrgios was picked up by on-court microphones making a lewd sledge to Wawrinka in Montreal earlier in August about the Swiss player’s reported girlfriend Vekic.
Donna Vekic has called Nick Kyrgios’s suspended 28-day ban “ridiculous” after the Aussie was further sanctioned for his on-court comments towards Stan Wawrinka in Montreal.
In the women’s tournament, American superstar Serena Williams will go head-to-head against Vitalia Diatchenko while Simona Halep takes on Marina Erakovic.
The Spaniard’s slip down the rankings means he now lurks as a potential Grand Slam quarter-final opponent for his established rivals, this time Djokovic.
British number two Aljaz Bedene, 26, plays Latvia’s 2014 French Open semi-finalist Ernests Gulbis.
