Jets have plenty to work on despite preseason win

Is this realistic? Not even slightly.

Seven seems like a sound number to me, but those injuries don’t do a whole lot to impact the exact number, except maybe in Owusu’s case. I actually think that the comparisons to Richard Seymour have some merit.

2-6 O/U in their last eight overall. They performed better as the first half wore on, though Gilliam had his hands full with All-Pro pass rusher Houston. He is likely to be a Hall of Famer in a few years and is one of the better defensive linemen in the history of the NFL.

Bryce Petty is getting experience by playing heavy snaps in the Jets’ preseason.

Matt Ryan and Julio Jones have looked unstoppable this preseason. Expectations should be high.

“I think it was an up-and-down performance, it was nice to get the touchdown at the end there”, Fitzpatrick said.

On to Devin Smith. They also saw wide receiver Brandon Marshall catch four of the five passes thrown his way for 62 yards, a promising sign that he’s their top receiver at this stage.

The passing offense is nearly unfair.

The New York Jets lost to the Detroit Lions, 23-3, last week in which Bryce Petty completed 10 of 18 passes for 50 yards.

The Jets loaded up their secondary with talent this offseason and Friday’s contest will feature some intriguing individual matchups.

The Jets running backs combine to have 1,600 yards and 15 Touchdowns.

So now for Lorenzo Mauldin. He typically lined up at defensive end in college and had almost no coverage responsibilities.

Unlike the Falcons-who defeated the Tennessee Titans by a score of 31-24, and looked impressive in doing so-New York struggled in their first preseason action of 2015, most noticeably on defense. Now, Maccagnan may need to look to the bargain bin following final cuts in order to find a fifth safety behind starters Calvin Pryor and Marcus Gilchrist and backups Jaiquawn Jarrett and Rontez Miles.

Beyond the obvious headliners, I’m curious to watch how Vic Beasley Jr. does in his second preseason outing. Rookie Terron Ward also had a 4-yard touchdown run for the Falcons (1-1) who carved up the Jets’ touted starting defense. There was definitely progress as far as where I was last week to this week so that’s good. Defensively, the Falcons yielded 279.9 in passing and 118.4 in rushing.

That Ivory touchdown was the first team offense’s sixth drive of the night.

He did not read the defense, he did not make progressions, and he typically only scanned half of the field. But he went the entire 2014 season without throwing a single touchdown pass to a wide receiver. “For me, it was a long time coming as far as when it was going to happen”.

Let’s hold off on hoping Petty challenges for the starting position, but he made significant strides within a week.

I’m not a Jets fan. It’s the second game. Colin Mooney was an unlikely recipient for an explosive play but his 60-yard reception highlighted Shanahan’s ability to create 1-on-1 matchups in space. Williams was just unstoppable.
