Southampton Town police say Sean Ludwick was awaiting arraignment Monday in town court. Ludwick then allegedly left his passenger and friend, 53-year-old Paul Hansen, lying in the street and continued driving, only to be stopped by the police a few minutes later.
A Sag Harbor man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after a one-car crash that killed his passenger early Sunday morning, officials have confirmed. The 42-year-old was arraigned Monday in Southampton town court on a misdemeanor DWI charge and a felony count of leaving the scene of a fatal crash.
They declined to name the victim until his family had been notified.
Ludwick was arrested “down the road” from the fatal crash. In addition to the drunken-driving charge, police charged Mr. Ludwick with leaving the scene of an accident in which a fatality occurred.
