Just after 9 a.m. the LIRR said it was in the process of restoring service into and out of Penn Station. The railroad said it would add shuttles every 30 minutes for the Forest Hills, Kew Gardens and Woodside stations.

The railroad was also canceling trains, diverting some to different stations and funneling passengers onto the New York City subway. Limited Port Washington Branch service also has been restored in both directions.

Residual delays likely will continue throughout the morning, he said.

The MTA is cross-honoring LIRR fares on the E, 7, and 2/3 subway lines. Limited service was restored at about 9:45 a.m. “I should have today”.

Another rider wrote that she had been stuck on a train for more than two hours.

Video from inside Jamaica Station showed a large crowd leaving a train and gathering to wait for subway trains to bring them to their destinations.
