LG IFA Berlin 2015 live press conference for new TV models

No, it’s not an alt worldwide football association or a Cockney saying “either”, IFA 2015 is this year’s edition of a big old trade show which happens every September in Berlin.

The highly anticipated successor of the Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch is likely to make a debut at the IFA. This is the device they expect to do battle with the Samsung Galaxy and iPhone.

We’ll be able to enjoy some virtual reality action, too, with the Oculus Rift being shown off, as well as the HTC Vive – the latter will be available before the end of the year, though sadly only in very limited quantities, with the main commercial launch scheduled for 2016 (much like the Rift).

Having witnessed the launch of the latest Galaxy S6 Edge+ phablet in August, we aren’t expecting Samsung to launch any more flagships at IFA. If the cycle continues, we should see these new models surface at the event starting tomorrow. It is expected to feature an impressive specification sheet including 4k display, 23 MP camera with 0.03 sec autofocus and 5X digital zoom. “We’ll see a new cycle of smartwatches, new smartwatches coming into the market which could be potentially interesting”, Ronan DeRenesse, analyst from Ovum, told AFP. China’s Huawei is also expected to give more details about its smartwatch, a device it announced at Mobile World Congress earlier this year. The side button looks to have shifted up to the 2 o’clock position, and indications are that – like the Asus ZenWatch 2 and the Apple Watch – this year’s Moto 360 will come in two different sizes. The company is promising “dramatically improved” recharging times, new magnetic connector and some extra watch faces along with standard Android Wear interface. Speculation suggests that there will be an OLED TV with a 4K curved screen. Going by the rumours, the company may also unveil the G4 Pro. Its manufacturer, South Korean company LG, hopes the Rolly will appeal to people who always carry their tablet around but prefer to type on a keyboard than a touchscreen.

Dell may not have any specific plans in IFA as rumored, but their devices may still be seen in the Microsoft booth. The Yoga series could also see an update.

At the IFA, Acer is likely to update its smartphone and tablet lineup.

Since we haven’t had any credible sources to confirm detailed specs of the new ASUS phones, we’ll wait till the actual launches to bring them to you.
