Lenovo YOGA Tab 3 PRO hands-on with projector action

While previous projectors on Lenovo YOGA tablets had their light projecting down the side of their heads, the PRO model YOGA Tab 3 shines forward. But why hold the tablet when it has its own kickstand?

Sleek and exquisite, the YOGA Tab 3 Pro is carefully assembled with premium materials such as aluminium and a leather-like fabric back, while maintaining its ultra-slim design. Another useful utility is Smart Window 2.0, which lets the tablet run an app in the background with two windows in the forefront. The unique shape of the YOGA Tab Pro 3 allows it to incorporate a rather large 10,200 mAh battery which is good for up to 18 hours of actual use or 49 days of standby time.

Stepping things up a notch is the YOGA Tab 3 Pro, which brings with its a 10.1-inch QHD (2560×1600) display. It is available in 8-inch and 10-inch sizes. The 8-inch Yoga Tab 3 will be available next month, with the 10-inch variant and Yoga Tab 3 Pro following sometime in November. The YOGA Tab 3 Pro also features four front-facing powerful JBL speakers, a virtualized Dolby Atmos experience over built-in speakers that creates a sensation of sound moving in all three dimensions around the listener. Features include a 1280×800-pixel resolution display, front-facing stereo audio, 180-degree rotating camera, and built-in gesture control. It also incorporates a camera that can rotate 180 degrees to capture flawless selfies.

One feature that does differ between these two tablets is battery size.

“Today’s tablet market is largely dominated by general-purpose devices”. Oh, and the “Lenovo” logo on the rear of last year’s model has been replaced with a Yoga logo. “We’ve teamed up with Lenovo to deliver fantastic sound to transform the mobile entertainment experience wherever you are”.

“We are excited for the fantastic viewing experience Netflix members will have on the YOGA Tab 3 Pro”, said Neil Hunt, Chief Product Officer at Netflix. “We’re also thrilled to have the Netflix widget pre-installed on these tablets so members can quickly and seamlessly start watching their favorite TV shows and movies”. It is the first Android tablet to be optimised for Dolby Digital Plus, Lenovo said, which Netflix streams with its HD content, allowing multi-channel audio and surround sound on the streaming platform. If you’re still interested in them, the 8-inch Yoga Tab 3 will cost €199 for the Wi-Fi-enabled version and €249 for the LTE version from October.
