LeSean McCoy might miss the first week of the NFL season
The star RB suffered an injury to his hamstring mid-August during one of the team’s practices, and is reportedly still on the way to recovery. “It tore in a spot that is kind of high up, surrounded by stronger muscles in the glutes and things like that”, the source continued. Instead, he’s been doing a rehab routine that includes just light footwork and some cardio.

LeSean McCoy’s status for the Buffalo Bills Week One game against the Indianapolis Colts may be in doubt.
However, despite the ESPN report, there’s still optimism on McCoy’s part that he’ll be able to go.
Anderson’s source went on to say that, “hell yes, I’m concerned about that”. “I can’t say for sure he’s going to be with us Week 1”.
In the wake of that move, it’s probably not good news that head coach Rex Ryan was non-commital on the subject of McCoy’s availability for the team’s Week 1 game against the Colts.
That’s not necessarily to say that McCoy won’t be available in some capacity in Week 1, but the report hints at a scenario in which the running back – who is not yet at full speed in practice – could possibly be on a “pitch count” out of the gate.
With the team cutting veteran Fred Jackson in the last few days, Boobie Dixon would be the next running back on the depth chart to carry the load for the Bills, with Bryce Brown likely getting occasional touches, too. Soft tissue injuries have a tendency to linger, so the Bills would be wise to play it safe with McCoy.

However, a source close to McCoy said although the standout is recovering from a small injury, he’s on track to be healthy by September 13 and indeed hopes to make his first official appearance in a Bills regular season game.
